S&P 500 futures spent the overnight session fading hard off their globex highs, with /NQ sitting at the very bottom of its overnight range as Nasdaq names get hit by AI capex anxiety — META and related infrastructure plays dragged the index to its worst day in four months yesterday. SPY is opening with a -0.45% cash gap down to 760.54, parking it essentially on top of the 760 put wall heading into a weekly expiration Friday.
The setup is treacherous: VIX has jumped to 20.22 (+3.11%), NYSE breadth printed an almost nonexistent 48 advancers against 1,151 decliners at the pre-market read, and 0DTE volume is running at 73.6% of SPY's total flow — meaning every tick at the open will be amplified by short-dated gamma. The question for today is whether the 760 put wall holds as support and pins price into expiry, or whether a break lower triggers accelerated downside into the 750s.
GEX walls are price levels where dealers hedge aggressively. Price tends to gravitate toward Max Pain and stall near walls.
