U.S. equity futures are fading into Wednesday's open, with SPY gapping down 0.39% to 774.99 against yesterday's close — and already trading below its options put wall at 777. Small-caps are the weakest link: IWM is gapping down 1.33% to 273.03, well clear of its 275 put wall, while QQQ at 738.16 is pressing right against its own 740 put wall with negative net GEX suggesting dealers are structurally short gamma on the Nasdaq.
VIX is up 3.33% to 15.82 — confirming a textbook risk-off correlation with SPY's decline — while market breadth data shows an NYSE advance/decline ratio of 0.02 (25 advancers vs. 1,230 decliners) and a TRIN of 2.29, signaling heavy selling pressure beneath the surface. With 0DTE contracts representing 73.8% of SPY options volume today and MWF expirations active across SPY, QQQ, and SPX, gamma dynamics at key strikes will dominate the tape from the open.
GEX walls are price levels where dealers hedge aggressively. Price tends to gravitate toward Max Pain and stall near walls.
