SPY opened at 769.51 and tagged a session high of 772.52 before fading back below VWAP at 770.19, where it now sits at 769.02. All three major ETFs — SPY, QQQ, and IWM — are trading below their respective VWAP and below their intraday highs, with trend bias turning bearish across the board heading into the afternoon.
The structural story is GEX walls doing exactly what they're built to do: SPY is pinned just below its 770.0 call wall, QQQ is hugging the 750.0 call wall, and IWM is sandwiched between the 282.0 call wall above and the 280.0 put wall below. A $414M cluster of SPX 0DTE put sweeps at the open — concentrated at the 7725–7750 strikes — pointed to early institutional downside hedging, and the tape has confirmed a drift lower since the morning high.
GEX walls are price levels where dealers hedge aggressively. Price tends to gravitate toward Max Pain and stall near walls.
